Rules & Regulations 


1.  ALL DECISIONS MADE BY THE SALTY CATCH TOURNAMENT DIRECTOR OR TEAM WILL BE FINAL.  


2.  ALL TICKETS MUST BE COMPLETED WITH THE REQUIRED INFORMATION.  ANGLERS MUST HAVE A VALID FISHING LICENSE AND ALL REQUIRED DOCUMENTS PER THE STATE OF LOUISIANA TO FISH THIS TOURNAMENT.  ONLY REGISTERED ANGLERS ARE ELIGIBLE FOR PRIZES. 


3.  ALL TICKETS MUST BE PURCHASED BY 3:00PM ON THURSDAY, JULY 20, 2017.  


4.  IF FISHING ON A BOAT, ALL MEMBERS ON THE BOAT ARE REQUIRED TO HAVE AN ANGLER TICKET.  IF ANYONE ON THE BOAT ON THE BOAT FAILS TO PURCHASE A TICKET, THE ENTIRE BOAT IS DISQUALIFIED.  


5.  TICKETS ARE NON-TRANSFERABLE AND NON-REFUNDABLE. 


6.  THERE ARE TWO OPTIONS OF TICKETS:  ADULT ANGLER (16 YEARS AND OLDER) AND YOUTH ANGLER (15 YEARS AND YOUNGER.)   ANGLERS MUST PURCHASE TICKETS IN EACH DIVISION THEY ARE FISHING {I.E. IF YOU'RE FISHING INSHORE ONE DAY AND OFFSHORE ANOTHER, YOU MUST PURCHASE BOTH DIVISIONS.}


​7.  ALL CAPTAIN'S AND CREW MEMBERS MUST BE IN COMPLIANCE WITH THE RULES OF THE SALTY CATCH AND WILDLIFE AND FISHERIES.  IF ANY RULES OR REGULATIONS ARE VIOLATED, THE ENTIRE BOAT IS DISQUALIFIED.  


8.  ALL FISH MUST BE CAUGHT ON ROD, REEL, HOOK, AND LINE ONLY UNLESS COMPETING IN THE SPEARFISHING DIVISION. NO ELECTRIC REELS.  


9.  ANGLERS MAY BRING FISH TO THE WEIGH-IN VIA VEHICLE OR BOAT. 


10.  ANGLERS MUST BE PRESENT TO WIN. 


11.  ALL WINNERS ARE SUBJECT TO A POLYGRAPH TEST.  


12.  ANGLERS MAY ONLY WEIGH-IN FISH THAT WERE CAUGHT BETWEEN THE OFFICIAL RODEO HOURS.  


13.  IN THE EVENT THE TOURNAMENT DIRECTOR FEELS IN THEIR BEST JUDGEMENT THAT FISHING IS UNSAFE DUE TO SEVERE WEATHER, THE TOURNAMENT WILL BE CANCELLED OR DELAYED.  IF DELAYED, A NEW DATE WILL BE SHARED TO ALL ANGLERS WITHIN THREE DAYS OF THE DELAY ANNOUNCEMENT.  IF CANCELLED, ANGLERS WILL BE REFUNDED THEIR ENTRY FEE.  IF ONE DAY IS FISHED, THE TOURNAMENT GOES ON.  


14.  IN CASE OF A TIE, THE FIRST FISH WEIGHED WINS THE TIE BREAKER.  


15.  EACH ANGLER IS ALLOWED TO WEIGH-IN TWO FISH PER SPECIES IN THEIR DIVISION.  


INSHORE DIVISION


1.  INSHORE FISHING AREAS ARE ANY INLAND WATERS, EXCLUDING THE GULF OF MEXICO.  YOU MUST STAY INSIDE THE JETTIES; GULF OF MEXICO IS OFF LIMITS.   BOATS, BANK, AND WADE FISHING IS ALLOWED.  


​2.  THERE IS NO SLOTS ON ANY FISH, HEAVIEST WEIGHTS WIN.

3.  ALLIGATOR GAR IS THE ONLY FISH THAT CAN BE CAUGHT ON SOMETHING OTHER THAN ROD AND REEL.  


OFFSHORE DIVISION 


1.  OFFSHORE FISHING AREAS ARE ANY WATER IN THE GULF OF MEXICO. 


2.  NO ELECTRIC REELS.  


3.  ANGLERS MUST HAVE PROPER PERMITS INCLUDING YOUR OFFSHORE LANDING PERMIT.  CLICK HERE AND SCROLL TO PAGE 25 FOR STATE AND FEDERAL FISHING REGULATIONS AND PERMITS.


SPEARFISHING DIVISION


1.  ALL FISH MUST BE SHOT WITH A SPEARGUN ONLY.  NO POWER HEADS. 


2.  BOTH SCUBA DIVING AND FREEDIVING IS ALLOWED.  


3.  ALL FISH MUST BE SPEARED BY DIVER WITHOUT ASSISTANCE. 


4.  FISHING AREAS ARE ANY WATER IN THE GULF OF MEXICO.  


GUIDES DIVISION


​1.  GUIDES MAY ENTER IN THE GUIDE DIVISION ONLY, WITH THE EXCEPTION OF FRESHWATER GUIDES WHO DO NOT GUIDE FOR ANY SALTWATER SPECIES CAN FISH AS A REGULAR ADULT ANGLER.  


2.  GUIDES ARE NOT QUALIFIED TO BE AWARDED TOP ANGLER OR LADY ANGLER.


3.  GUIDES ARE ALLOWED TO COMPETE IN THE OTHER CATEGORIES OF MOST SPOTS ON REDFISH, LARGEST DRUM, AND LARGEST ALLIGATOR GAR.  


4.  GUIDES WEIGH-IN TO A DIVISION OF THEIR OWN, BUT CAN FISH WITH ANYONE AS LONG AS EVERYONE ON THE BOAT IS REGISTERED TO FISH THE TOURNAMENT.   


BILLFISH DIVISION


1.  CATCH & RELEASE IS OFFICIAL WHEN THE SWIVEL HITS THE ROD TIP OR A CREW MEMBER GRABS THE LEADER. 

2.  MUST FOLLOW THE RULES AND COMPLETELY FILL OUT EVERYTHING LISTED ON THE BILLFISH SCORECARD.  

3.  AFTER YOU'RE REGISTERED, CONTACT CRYSTAL TO GET YOUR COLOR CARDS AND SCORECARD.  

4.  IN CASE OF A TIE, THE FIRST CAUGHT RECORDED ON THE SCORECARD WINS THE TIE BREAKER.


BARRACUDA STATE RECORD 

1.  YOU MUST HAVE A PICTURE OR VIDEO WITH YOU WEARING A CAJUN TACKLE SHIRT ONCE THE BARRACUDA IS LANDED. 

2.  An "Eligible Contestant" is defined as: an officially registered and qualified angler in the Offshore Division of the Salty Catch Fishing Rodeo 2017.

3.  ON THE REPORT OF A CLAIM FOR THE LOUISIANA STATE RECORD, THE WINNER MUST SUBMIT TO AND PASS A POLYGRAPH EXAMINATION ADMINISTERED BY A LICENSED POLYGRAPHIST.
